Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Samastam, India ("we", "us"), the maker of Neu Notes. They cover the website, the web app at https://app.neunotes.samastam.xyz, the mobile app and the browser extension (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

In short

• Your notes belong to you. You can export all of them at any time, even if you stop paying.
• You start with a 7-day free trial with no card. After that, Neu Notes is a paid subscription, monthly or yearly.
• Paid periods aren't refunded, but you can cancel any time and keep access to the end of the period.
• Don't use Neu Notes for anything illegal or to harm others.

1. Your account

You need an account to sync, back up and use paid features. Give us a real email address you can receive mail at, keep your password private, and turn on two-step sign-in if you can. You're responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at support@samastam.xyz straight away if you think someone else has got into it. One account is for one person. If you use Neu Notes for an organisation, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.

2. Your content

Everything you put into Neu Notes, including notes, files, images and imports, is yours. We claim no ownership of it.

So that we can run the service, you give us permission to store, copy, process and transmit your content only as needed to provide it to you: for example to sync it between your devices, back it up, read text in your images so it's searchable, and build the exports you ask for. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backup copies that are removed on their normal cycle (see the Privacy Policy).

You're responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to store it. We don't review your notes, but we may act on content if the law requires it or it breaks section 4.

3. Export any time

You can export all of your notes in Settings › Export as ENEX, HTML or Markdown at any time. That stays true when your trial or subscription ends: the account turns read-only, and every note still opens, searches and exports. We will never hold your notes to make you pay.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use the service to:

• store or share anything illegal, including material that sexually exploits children, or content that infringes someone else's rights;
• send spam, malware or phishing, including through the email-in address;
• try to get into other people's accounts or data, or test, probe or break our security (report problems to us instead; see the security page);
• overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, or access it by automated means other than our apps and published interfaces;
• resell the service or use it to run a file-hosting service for others.

There's no cap on how many notes you keep. To keep the service working for everyone, single attachments are limited to 200 MB and very heavy automated use may be slowed down.

5. Free trial, subscriptions and payment

Every new account gets a 7-day free trial with every feature and no card. After the trial, writing to your account needs a subscription. Current plans and prices are on the pricing page; prices may include or exclude tax depending on where you live, and the price at checkout is the one that applies.

• On the web, subscriptions are sold by our payment provider, Dodo Payments, as the merchant of record. It takes the payment, handles tax and issues your receipt, and its own terms also apply to the purchase.
• In the Android app, subscriptions are bought through Google Play under Google Play's terms.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel. We email you 7 days before every renewal with the date, the amount and a link to cancel. If we change a price, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

6. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel any time in Settings › Plan › Cancel or change plan, or in Google Play if you subscribed there. You keep full access until the end of the period you paid for and aren't charged again. Because you can try Neu Notes free first, paid periods aren't refunded, except where the law where you live gives you a right to a refund. The full policy is on the refunds and cancellation page.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Delete account. Deletion is immediate and can't be undone, so export first if you want a copy.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Unless the law or an urgent risk stops us, we'll tell you first and give you at least 30 days to export your notes. If we ever stop offering Neu Notes, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice to export everything.

8. The service itself

We work to keep Neu Notes running, safe and your notes intact, and we keep improving it, which means features may change. We don't promise it will always be available, error-free or that it will never lose data, so keep your own export of anything you can't afford to lose. The service is provided "as is" to the fullest extent the law allows.

The Neu Notes name, logo, apps and website are ours. These terms give you a personal right to use them to use the service, nothing more. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Samastam is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or lost business, and our total liability to you for any claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.

You agree to cover us for claims made by others because of content you store or use of the service that breaks these terms or the law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service or the law changes. We'll change the date at the top, and for changes that matter to you we'll email you at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using Neu Notes after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can export your notes and delete your account.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Please write to support@samastam.xyz first; most problems are solved that way. Otherwise, disputes go to the courts of India. If you use Neu Notes as a consumer outside India, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim in your local courts.

12. Everything else

These terms, the Privacy Policy and the refunds and cancellation policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If one part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over Neu Notes, such as Neuron, the company we plan to set up; your rights under it stay the same.
